Generally, English law recognises overseas marriages made in compliance with local laws. We do recommend checking with your local registry office to confirm that this is the case in your individual circumstance!

If your marriage is not legally recognised, it is advisable to register your marriage as there are tax benefits that will apply to the inheritance share that your spouse receives. Our Wills can include wording that ensures that getting married legally after the creation of a Will will not affect its validity.
